Cancellations, refunds and market loss

Bullion is priced off a market that moves every second, so an order is a commitment, not a reservation. This page sets out plainly what happens if an order is cancelled, and what we do if something is wrong with what you received.

DRAFT – lawyer review. The old site had placeholder text here. This wording is a draft written for Perth Bullion to review with its lawyer before go-live.

Change of mind

Because your price is locked and we hedge the metal when you order, we do not offer change-of-mind refunds or exchanges on bullion. This is standard across the industry and is not a consumer guarantee matter.

Cancelled or unpaid orders: the market loss policy

If your order is cancelled, by you or automatically because it was not paid within the payment terms, you are liable for a market loss charge of:

  • a $50 administration fee, plus
  • the fall, if any, in the spot value of the metal in your order between the time you ordered and the time of cancellation (ounces × (spot at order − spot at cancellation)).

Example: you order 10 oz of silver at $69.92/oz spot and cancel when spot is $67.50. Market loss = $50 + 10 × $2.42 = $74.20. If spot had risen there is no credit to you; the gain is forfeited.

Unpaid orders are reminded on days 3, 6 and 9 and cancelled automatically on day 10. The market loss on every cancelled order is calculated and recorded. After two cancellations in six months we will write to you explaining that the policy will be enforced on any further cancellation and that we may decline future orders. Orders cancelled because identity verification was not completed within 24 hours carry no market loss charge.

Pre-orders

Pre-orders lock your price in the same way and are covered by the same policy. If the mint fails to supply and we cannot fulfil a pre-order, we refund any payment in full with no charge.

Wrong, damaged or faulty items

Every order is photographed before packing. If you receive the wrong item, a damaged item or a short shipment, tell us within 48 hours of delivery with photos and we will put it right with a replacement or refund of that item, including return postage. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected by anything on this page.

Buybacks

A buyback is final once the metal has been tested, the price accepted and payment made. Payment rates follow live spot and can change without notice until the transaction is agreed.

Storage

Storage fees are not refunded for early withdrawal. Fees must be paid before metal is released. See storage and our terms.
